What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar techniques, such as local storage and IndexedDB, store data in your browser as well. This page covers all of them.

Cookies we use

Cookie Purpose Kept for
Session cookie (a random name) Keeps you logged in and protects forms against misuse. Strictly necessary. Until you close the browser or log out
joomla_user_state Remembers that you are logged in, so pages are not served from a cache. Strictly necessary. Until you log out
joomla_remember_me_… Only when you tick Remember me at login: keeps you logged in on this device. Up to 60 days

These cookies are functional or strictly necessary. Under Dutch law (Telecommunicatiewet) they do not need your consent.

Local storage in your browser

The editor and Setlists store some data in your browser, not in cookies. It is never sent to us:

  • Local storage: your settings (fonts, sizes, dark interface, and so on), the draft of your chart, the width of panels and which categories are folded in, and the options of the Setlists viewer.
  • IndexedDB: the audio files you add to the practice player, with their loop, speed and pitch.
  • Cache storage and a service worker: Setlists keeps the app and the setlists you save for offline use, with their PDF files and chord sheets, so they also work without internet.

This data is needed for the features you use and stays on your device until you remove it.

Statistics without cookies

We count visits with Matomo, on our own server. Matomo is set up without cookies and with anonymised IP addresses, so it does not recognise you on a next visit and does not follow you on other sites. No consent is needed for this. More about it in our privacy policy.

Third-party cookies

The site itself loads no third-party cookies. Only when you open the Spotify player for a chart with a Spotify link, the Spotify player is loaded and Spotify may set its own cookies. That only happens after you click Player. See Spotify’s cookie policy.

Managing and removing cookies

You can remove cookies and other site data in the settings of your browser at any time, and block cookies for this site. Without the session cookie you cannot log in; without local storage the editor cannot remember your settings and draft.
