General

What is Sheet Groove?

Three tools that work together: a chord chart editor that turns plain text into a print-ready lead sheet, Setlists with a stage viewer for your songs and PDF's, and Bands to share all of it with your band.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in the browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. You can install the editor and Setlists as an app on your phone, tablet or computer, but that is optional.

Do I need an account?

Not for the editor: writing, printing and .txt files work without one. My songs, the practice tools and Setlists need Pro; the members of a band play its setlists with a free account.

The editor

Do I need to learn a programming language?

No. The notation is bar lines, chord names and a few markers that start with @. The whole notation guide fits on one page.

Where are my charts stored?

Without an account your chart stays in your own browser as a draft, and you save it as a .txt file on your own device (Ctrl+S). With Pro you also keep your charts in My songs, ready on every device.

Can I print to PDF?

Yes. The print preview shows exactly what ends up on paper. Press Ctrl+P and choose PDF in the print dialog of your browser.

Does it work for any style?

Yes. From swing and bossa to pop and ballads: you set style, key and time signature per tune, and you can change the time signature in any bar.

Can I practise along with a recording?

Yes, with Pro. Link a Spotify track with @spotify: and add @loop: lines, or open the practice player with your own audio files: slow down, change the pitch and loop a part. The Spotify player works on a computer; on a phone or tablet Spotify only plays a 30-second preview, so use the practice player there. See the editor help.

Can I use the editor without internet?

Yes, once you have opened it with a connection, in the browser or as an app: writing, the print preview and printing work offline. My songs, the Spotify player and the import from Ultimate Guitar need a connection.

Setlists

Which files can I add to a song?

PDF files, several per song, for example one per part, and chord sheets from My songs.

What happens to a PDF I upload but do not save?

It is removed. Cancel removes it at once, and an upload that was never saved, for example because the tab was closed, is removed after 24 hours.

Does the viewer work with a page-turn pedal?

Yes, with pedals that send the arrow keys, PageDown/PageUp or Space, which is what most Bluetooth page turners do.

Can I play without internet?

Yes. Tap Offline in a setlist before the gig; the setlist is then stored on the device with its PDF's and chord sheets. See Offline and installing.

Are my PDF's private?

Yes. Your personal songs and PDF's are only visible to you. In a band, the songs are visible to its members, and your personal PDF's only to you and the admins.

Bands

Who pays for a band?

Only the owner, with a band plan, which includes Pro. Members need a free account.

How do members join?

An admin invites them by e-mail. The link is valid for 14 days; the musician accepts with the account of that e-mail address. See Invitations.

What counts as a member, and as storage?

Members are the owner, the members and the open invitations. Storage is the size of all PDF's of the songs of the band.

What if two of us edit the same setlist?

That cannot happen by accident: while one person edits, the others see who is busy. See Editing at the same time.

What happens when the band plan ends?

Nothing is deleted and the band can still play. It only takes no new members or files until the owner extends the plan.

Account and paying

What does it cost?

The editor is free. Pro, with Setlists, costs € 29 per year or € [X] per month; band plans with Pro included cost € 39 or € 59 per year. See Pricing.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and your songs are kept with your account.

How do I delete my account?

Send an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We then delete your account and your content; save a copy of your charts first.

Privacy

Are my practice recordings uploaded?

No. The practice player stores your audio files in your own browser, on that device only.

Do you use tracking cookies?

No. We only use the cookies the site needs, and our statistics work without cookies. See the cookie policy.
